Mairasi Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia mairasi) TR

The Mairasi Rainbowfish is a rare and striking species known for its deep body shape, metallic coloration, and bold fin markings. Mature males can develop rich blue, green, bronze, and violet tones, often accented by reddish or orange fins. Females are generally more subdued, displaying attractive silver, olive, and blue coloration.

These peaceful but highly active fish should be kept in groups of six or more, with multiple females for each male when possible. A spacious aquarium with open swimming areas, good filtration, and regular water changes will help them maintain strong health and vibrant coloration. Their colors continue to improve as they mature and are especially intense during courtship displays.
